Customers
are issued an initial Magnetic Stripe Card which
is encoded and enrolled in a campus database.
Value can be added at any
time by the use of an Autoloader "a stand alone
networked cash to account box", or directly
entered into the online account directly into the
server.
To use the copiers, the customer
will swipe their card on the Networked Copier Controller,
which will communicate back to the server to verify
the account balance. Once the account has been verified
the terminal will initialize the machine and the
terminal will start counting copy pages. When the
customer is finished the terminal will communicate
again with the server indicating the number of copies
and server will update the customers account balance
in the account database.
The Networked Copier Controller
will allow the customers to check the balance in
their account at any time, all they need to do is
simply swipe their card at a Networked Copier Controller
and their balance will be displayed.
